Using Social Networks For Marketing

Right now, the best way to get to sell your products and services is by using the great marketing infrastructure provided by the internet. People today always want to be connected to their friends through the internet. One great way of promoting your products online is to use the top social networks for internet marketing.

There are so many social networking sites now that allow people to keep in touch with their friends and their families, as well as meet new friends. Probably the most well-known social network today is Facebook. Facebook allows you to easily find and connect to your friends. You can keep in touch with them, and you could even interact in so many ways. If you want to market your product, you should definitely consider doing in on Facebook. Here are three reasons why you should use social networks like Facebook to market your products online.

Reason Number 1: They provide you with a very wide market to sell your products and services to

Facebook has members from pretty much all walks of life. Almost everyone knows the site, and most people have at least one Facebook account. And the site’s statistics show that it has over 400 million active users, and half of them are active at least once a day. That is definitely a lot of people that you could promote your products to.

While their current population is very impressive, it is still steadily growing every day. If you get to reach a percentage of these people logging on the site, your business would surely be well known. And the best part of it is that using social networks for internet marketing can help attract more visitors to your business’s website.

Reason Number 2: Targeted marketing on social networks is so much easier compared to other methods

Filtering your target audience is much easier with social networks like Facebook. They have pre-filtered sub-networks that you could access to find the right target audience. Social networks for internet marketing allow you to pick out what kind of audience you want to promote your product to. You can even specifically target people who have an interest on your products or services.

What’s even better with Facebook is that you could create a fan page or group where your target audience can join at their own will. When they are interested on the content of your page, they may even try to interact with you and visit your website to know more about what you offer.

Reason Number 3: Social networks offer a great potential to boost traffic to your website

Many internet businessmen have been using social networks for internet marketing to boost the traffic to their websites. The social networks, when used strategically, can drive more traffic to your business website. If it has great and informative content, people would really want more of it. You can direct them to your website so that they could find the information that they want.

Even though using social networks for internet marketing is a great idea, it is best not to overdo it. Your visitors might get tired if you get too carried away with marketing your product. When marketing in social networks, it is always advisable to be more personal and interesting so that you would not lose the interest of your audience.

To Your Success,

This is a great posting by Beth Heilman TheHomeBizNetwork.com that explains how to let the real you shine through in social media marketing. It was so good I wanted each of you have the opportunity to read it. Below are Beths tips:

When you’re out there on the Social Sites, places like Facebook, MySpace, LinkedIn and Twitter, when you send out a request for someone to be your friend; a personal message goes a long way in getting you what you want.

For example, Facebook is a Social Media Site that I’ve been involved with for over a year. In that time I’ve had thousands of friend requests sent to me.

The ones I look at first, and the ones I’m most likely to accept are those that have sent along a personal message.

Think about it. If someone came up to you at a networking event or party, handed you their business card then simply turned around and walked away; how likely would you be to want to do business with (or even get to know) that person?

Social Media works much the same

Although these Social Sites are based online, there is still a human being at each end. Everyone still has the same feelings and perceptions as if you were standing and talking with them “belly-to-belly”.

Here are some tips for connecting online:

1) When setting up your profile, always put up a picture of yourself. Make it a photo where people can see your bright, shining face. Folks in the online world may never meet you face-to-face so that picture is all they have to decide whether to accept or ignore a friend request. It helps them get to know you.

Also, please, please, please. I beg of you. Don’t put up an image of the product you sell as your profile picture. It screams “I want to sell you my stuff” or “I want to get you into my business”. People who’ve bought into YOU, who like and trust YOU may eventually buy your product, not the other way around.

2) Your profile should include personal as well as professional information about you. It should be detailed enough for your potential new friend to get a feel for who you are, but not so detailed that they know what you had for breakfast that morning.

Ever gone to someone’s profile page and all that’s there is their birthday? There’s no info about them, their family or what they do for a living.

If they’re obviously new to the site, I usually cut them a little slack. I’ll leave the request in the ol’ inbox for a week or so to see if they add anything new. If after that time they still won’t open up, I’ll pass. Doing business online means letting people know about you. It’s not the time or place to be secretive. Leave that to the government. Did I say that?

3) My third Social Media Tip for the day goes back to my original point; sending along a message with your friend request. A message being sent with the request tells the other person that you actually took some time to seek them out. It’s very nice in our instant gratification society for someone to take time out of their day to include a personal note asking for our friendship. However(you knew I’d have a “however” in here, didn’t you?)

If you’re going to copy and paste a pre-written message, at the minimum add in your future friend’s name. I always have to smile when a request comes in that says “Hi(empty space here) , I found you on so-an-so’s page and…”. Just taking a couple of extra seconds to add in their name will show that you’re truly sincere about being their friend. Wouldn’t you feel the same way?

Social Media is a powerful medium for attracting clients and business builders to you. There is a wealth of information on Social Media Marketing just waiting for you to tap into.

Here is a great post on attraction marketing that I discovered. The author is Rachel Henke. I was impressed with what she had to say regarding attraction marketing and wanted to share it with my blog readers so here you go.

Attracting offline prospects to your website without using outdated methods like flyers and cold calling.

At the end of the day we have people we already know to invite to review our MLM business and/or people we don’t know (yet!)

Hopefully you are excited enough about your opportunity to feel positive about sharing it with your key contacts when you first join, and you have some good 3rd party tools and training to plug into to do this.

(3rd party tools just means a DVD, a website, an audio etc. that you can use as a first exposure to see if you have a real prospect and to avoid you having to be the message)

So let’s say you’re just getting started with building your online presence with social media but you’re also out and about, ‘living your life on purpose,’ networking.

How can you get these nice people you’re meeting at local networking events or in your day to day life to take a look at your business, without feeling pushy and salesy?

If we really believe in our MLM business then in this new economy we bear a certain responsibility to give people an opportunity to take a look at our MLM business right?

The majority of people out there in the big world are completely oblivious about ‘old school and new school MLM debate!’ They just don’t care!

What they may care about is finding a business model to plug into that they can use to change their life in this difficult time so I feel it’s important to move through this transitional period in MLM so you feel you have a complete system that works both on and offline.

Let’s look at three scenarios that we may have here:

1) Business networking events such as networking breakfasts etc.

Here people expect to exchange business cards. They come to ‘do business’ and meet new contacts. This is an ideal setting for you to meet professional people in your local area who are business minded.

Over the years I’ve attended so many of these events I’ve pretty much experienced every kind of scenario so nothing would surprise me but the usual format is either you officially pass your business cards around in a little box during the meeting, or you informally network with people and exchange cards with whom you want.

Both are great, the latter tends to be more environmentally friendly and time efficient because you’re not politely accepting cards that you have no interest in!

2) Day to day informal events

You meet an interesting person at a local event for example with your child, or pursuing a hobby of yours, and you are unsure what to do or how to build a relationship with that person although you think you’d very much enjoy working with them and they could be suitable for your business.

3) The ‘one shot’ prospect that would be ‘perfect’ for your business!

The ‘one shot’ prospect is the one you meet at the airport or the underground and will probably never see again. Ok with those guys rather than taking a deep breath and pitching them with all your buzz words, on your business (which I admit I would have done without the blink of an eye in the not too distant past) now you can simply chat about social media and see where they ‘hang out.’

How can you develop these relationships?

It’s probably best if you don’t even mention your business. (If you’re coming back from an International convention waving flags and high on life and jungle juice then you may need to physically hold yourself back!)

With all 3 of these scenarios you can now be less urgent in ‘pitching’ them because social media has opened up communication and the world for us in a dramatic way.

When you meet a great person at a local networking event or you get stuck waiting in the dentist’s surgery for ages and get chatting with a really cool person you can just talk about fun things.

There is no huge urgency which usually turns people right off. To meet someone for the first time and to start chewing their ear off about your business, and yes I know it is probably THE best one, and NEVER been done before.. But let’s face it, it’s a huge turnoff.

Ask questions and just relax into building relationships. Exchange cards if they have one, and say you’ll look them up on, wherever it is they said they hang out.

Are they members of “LinkedIn“? That’s a very formal and professional networking site where you’ll find thousands of interesting candidates.

Or they may be a lover of Facebook, or perhaps they are already into Twitter.

So doesn’t that make it easier and take the pressure off? Discuss the phenomenon of social media, discuss anything and everything that is fun and just connect up with them afterwards online.

No more heavy phone for first ‘follow up’ after the networking events. Phew.. I’m pleased about that.

So back to the main point of this article today; this is how you attract your prospects offline to your online sites. You start by inviting them to be a friend on the social media fun spots or fishing pools such as Facebook, and as a natural progression of your new friendship you’ll be able to expand on what you do as you connect up further.

They will see you are in business and if you position yourself well with an attraction marketing website and a little bio about you, and what information they can get free at your website they may very likely click on it without an invitation. That is so smooth when that happens.

If you need to formally invite them to take a look then once you’ve had a little look at there ’stuff’ online you are a lot more informed about what their interests and passions are. You know who you’re dealing with and can easily connect up with them and send them your link to check out to see if there is any interest there.

Attraction Marketing is not about being online, although that’s where it’s easiest for the majority to practice it. It’s about being a friend and having an attractive offer that encourages people to network with you and want to find out more about what you do.

Okay I’m wrapping this up now. I do hope that’s given you some enthusiasm to get social networking both on and offline and start leveraging your time with your website.

No flyers as I promised! Such a blessing for Network Marketing in the UK because it rains so often we are just not suited for flyering.

p.s this is a GREAT way for contacting your ‘chicken list!’ You know the guys that you feel you need to notify that you’re in business because in some way they could be an asset to your team, but perhaps you are intimidated by their success or position. These are usually the best prospects in your network circle so don’t ignore them through fear – just touch base with them using social media if you can’t bring yourself to call them.

p.s. All of this works 100 x more efficiently when you have an attraction marketing website, branding you and your business and that offers a value based giveaway for people to opt in to receive information from you. If you have no customized funnel in place to build your MLM online and want to attract prospects to you, now is the time to get one!

Thank You Rachel!

I agree with Rachel to be long-term successful, you MUST have a marketing system for your opportunity. I love mine because it offers total training in the skills of working with people, so that you get better and better ‚ and your people can plug into exactly the same system, making it far easier for you to help them.

Its true Facebook has become one of the most visited websites online. So with all these people on Facebook, the question is, “how to use Facebook for business building?”

It can be done however its important you do it the right way.

Make friends first.

The way you attract followers is simply by providing them good content in the form of questions, comments, quotes and dialogue.

You become aware of who your followers are as they read your status updates and comment on them or let you know that they like what you have to say.

Then, those followers will become a fan of yours, meaning that not only are they your friend and follower, but they will reach out to you and thank you for your contributions to your community and perhaps might even ask you what you do or how they might be able to work with you.

This can result in a new customer, business partner or both. This is simply Permission Based Marketing. One of the worst things you can do on Facebook, is to try and pitch your deal. Most people will simply ignore you, many will remove you as their friend. Pitching your deal up front before building a relationship with people is like going to a doctor and before they even ask you any questions, they are writing you a prescription. In a case like that the doctor didn’t ask you anything about yourself, and they didn’t even find out if you even have a need a prescription. You have to take a interest in a person and build a relationship first before you pitch any product or service. Remember nobody likes to be sold, but everybody loves to buy.

You must brand yourself as someone that people will come to know, like, trust and feel you have some expertise. Then, when your Facebook friends ask you about your business, that’s great. Let them engage you, and then you can then provide them with information.

Contribute to your community on Facebook often, with great value, it’s fine to include a link to your personal blog or hub page or any other Social Media that you’ve created or that has been written or spoken about you.

No one will be interested in your business opportunity, products, or services until they see that you are someone they’d even want to work with or purchase from. If all you post is business information, it clearly shows what your true intentions are and you will alienate yourself.

If you treat your friends on Facebook with respect and courtesy, if you contribute often, then chances are you will attract great people who ask what you do and what you offer and how they can get more information.

To be long-term successful, you MUST have a marketing system for your opportunity. I love mine because it offers total training in the skills of working with people, so that you get better and better‚ and your people can plug into exactly the same system, making it far easier for you to help them.

Have you wondered just how big social media for marketing really is. You hear all the stories about how huge the marketplace is and the many ways you can earn income in social media marketing.

Have you ever wondered about bloging?? What is a blogger? Or a Facebooker? Or a Twitterer? Perhaps we should just name them Readers, or Viewers or Listeners? Or maybe just the Public. Because social media doesn’t belong to a new regime coming up to displace the old media regime. It’s Everyone. It’s everyone creating content. There is Good content, bad content. It’s Everyone distributing content, linking out,and retweeting. It’s Everyone discussing, dissecting, critiquing and correcting.

If their was ever a question about the value of social media marketing in building a business just look at the box below. I think it will become very clear to you how valuable it really is.
