Can Charlie Chaplin’s Secret To Success Help You In Network Marketing??
As I have said in the past I am always searching for great information to share with you on this blog. Here is an article I discovered by Lynn Jones that I feel can be helpful to all of us… Can Charlie Chaplin’s Secret to success help you in network marketing??
Who comes to mind when I mention……..
A little man sporting a tiny moustache, caring a cane and wearing baggy pants, big clumsy shoes and a derby hat?
Just about everyone would know right away that it is Charlie Chaplin. In the 1910s and 1920s he was the most famous and recognized celebrity on the planet.
Chaplin was born into poverty as the son of English music hall performers. As a small child he ended up on the streets when his mother was institutionalized. Nobody would have predicted great fame for him.
After years in workhouses and orphanages, he began working on the stage to support himself and by 17 years of age he was a veteran performer.
Having great talent and incredible drive propelled Chaplin to success, but it was those traits fueled by coachability that made him the most popular and highest paid performer in the world. He was not content with the status quo and continually strived to grow, learn, and perfect his craft.
In an interview Chaplin explained his desire to improve:
When I am watching one of my pictures presented to an audience, I always pay close attention to what they don’t laugh at. If, for example, several audiences do not laugh at a stunt I mean to be funny, I at once begin to tear that trick to pieces and try to discover what was wrong in the idea or in the execution of it. If I hear a slight ripple at something I had not expected to be funny, I ask myself why that particular thing got a laugh.
If Chaplin had not been coachable and instead allowed arrogant self-satisfaction to control him, he may not have achieved the fame that he did. His desire to grow made him successful economically, and it brought a high level of excellence to everything he did.
Let’s bring this home to where we are as Network Marketers. We can fall into the attitude of being content with the status quo. If you already possess influence and have achieved a level of respect, why should we keep growing?
Because:Â Your growth determines who you are.
Who you are determines who you attract.
Who you attract determines the success of your organization.
If you want to grow your organization, you have to remain coachable.
Five guidelines to help you cultivate and maintain a coachable spirit:
Reaching your goal is no excuse to stop. Some people mistakenly believe that if they can accomplish a particular goal, they no longer have to keep growing. We cannot afford to stop growing  or it will deeply affect our potential and the growth of our organization. Wise words from Ray Kroc, “As long as you’re green, you’re growing. As soon as you’re ripe, you start to rot.â€
Overcome your success: What gets a person to a place of achievement, doesn’t always keep them there. Don’t let success hinder your coach ability.
Beware of shortcuts: Everything of value in life has its price. When you desire to grow in a particular area in your life, figure out what it will really take and determine to get it.
Swallow your pride: You cannot be prideful and coachable at the same time. If we are truly coachable it requires us to admit we don’t know everything.
Try not to make the same mistake twice: We all make mistakes. Forget them, but always remember what they taught you, because that’s progress. If you don’t, you may pay for them again.
Some questions we can ask ourselves:
What is your attitude toward growing and learning?
What kind of crop are you reaping?
Is your life and leadership improving each day, each month, each year?
Are you where you hoped to be at this time in your life?
When was the last time you attempted something for which you were not the expert?
If you are new to this business model of Network Marketing or a successful veteran or somewhere in between…..if you want to be a champion tomorrow, be coachable today.
“If you don’t like the crop you are reaping, check the seed you are sowing,†from a sign in a rural Ohio feed store.
Remember… In Networking coming together is a beginning, keeping together is progress, working together is success.
