How To Start A Network Marketing Business
I am frequently asked the question how to start a network marketing business. I have started a number of new businesses through the years, so perhaps I can share with you some insight as to how you can also start a network marketing business. In some network marketing businesses you can spend very little to get started, while others will cost thousands of dollars. Here are some questions you need to ask yourself before looking into a network marketing business.
- How much money are you willing to invest? If you are hoping to find a business that makes you a living, chances are you will need to invest some money. You may not want to hear that, but you know it’s the truth.
- A new business requires your time. Sure you are going to find a number of opportunities that will promise a few hours a week of your time, but if you really want to start a new business in network marketing that will grow, and grow strong, you will need to invest your time to build a strong foundation. Try to get around this and your business will fail.
- Who are your customers? Do you want to start a new business that you love, of course! But if there is a limited client base, I don’t recommend it. Don’t you want to start a new business that has millions of clients potential? Simply asked, do you want a business that makes a little money or a lot of money?
As you can see I am guiding you down a specific road. Now let me ask you this question… Do you think that every sales person selling products and services, love and believe in their product or service? Well I can tell you for a fact they should.
Years ago I was running my own traditional business. I walked into the office one day and heard one of my people that just got off the phone and couldn’t contain himself. He just laughed and laughed. I asked him why he was laughing. He said, “I was just speaking with a guy who was telling me that I really need his product. I asked him what company he worked for, and he couldn’t remember.” Listen everyone needs to start somewhere, but you can bet this fellow found out the company name before his next call.
When starting a new network marketing business, you must believe in your company. You have to be proud to put your name on it. Let that sink in for a moment. There is a lot of junk in the industry, and it doesn’t take much to spot them. If you see slick images in the page header, fast and beautiful cars… These businesses are working on your emotions and greed. I’m certainly not against the finer things in life, but if that is the foundation of your network marketing business, its doomed to fail.
If flashy websites are what it takes to get you to sign up, then flashy websites will be what you have to use to sell to the next person. So I caution you to be very careful.
I was in a traditional business for 25 years. As it is with many traditional businesses, I had over 100 employees, huge liability insurance premiums and huge overhead costs. Of course there is always that occasional unhappy customer. Suddenly you find that the very thing you were passionate about, is now your worst nightmare. But you know what? That is part of ownership in a traditional business.
In network marketing we don’t have a need in most cases for employees. We don’t have to warehouse or ship products. We don’t have to worry about research and development the company takes care of that. Our responsibility is to have a team of people who are marketing the company’s product and services, and we get paid in direct proportion to the volume we do as well as what our teams do. I believe the network marking is the greatest business on the planet if you do it right!
