What causes “Overnight Success”?
This is information I received from afriend of mine Diane Brodie. I happen to agree 100% with Diane and wanted to share her information with you on my blog. Here is what Diane Has to say about what causes overnight scccess.
Have you ever started a job or gone into a new profession without being trained? Did you go down to your local discount store and order a kit to be a lawyer, a doctor, or an engineer? Of course not – to enter those professions, you need specialized knowledge.
What about when you started a job? Did you just walk in off the street and tell them you knew all there was to know about the job and no training would be necessary? I don’t think so. According to most Fortune 500 companies, it takes 6 months of being on the job before the company starts to make any money from an employee. Did you read that closely – 6 months?
Now why is it that people who join a program to earn extra income from home give up in less than 90 days? Could they be missing an important point in life? If just learning a job takes around 6 months to be good at it, then maybe you can start to see why things haven’t worked out for most of us.
Many companies’ training is still coming from ideas that were used 50 years ago. Like making a list of family and friends, talking to anyone within 3 feet, buying leads and doing cold calls.
We would suggest:
DON’T start listing your friends & family.
The MLM “Heavy Hitters” will toast them like a pop-tart.
DON’T buy leads and make cold calls.
No one likes rejection and the only one making money is the one selling the leads.
DON’T marry the wrong MLM company.
You’ll probably wind up a “battered spouse.”
Solution? Promote YOURSELF! Become a LEADER.
Have a joy-filled week. Smile at everyone – it makes you look younger and the other person happier!

Great advise and tips. So true. Most people could care less as to what your selling. I did everything you listed above. Until I started promoting myself and not my product is only then I began to see results. Very good article
Interesting post, Herb. I think you hit one of the most important aspects of starting a business let’s be honest in most cases it’s going to take a year or two for success, however compare that to the 20-30 years in most traditional business’s.
