Team Motivation in MLM – Growing Your Business One Rep at a Time

In the world of multi-level marketing there is no success without a team.  Individual contributors, no matter how active and prolific, can’t match the results of a highly motivated team.  This is why every presentation that you do is as much about adding someone new to your organization as it is about moving product.  As you build your team, and watch your profits grow, it is important to think about reinvesting some of that success into the team.  Team motivation in MLM is a vital component of your continued growth and success.

Think back to when you first started with your organization.   Can you remember the presentation that made you stop and think “Wow, I want a piece of that!?” The odds are that you are still in contact with the person that first inspired you to get onboard.  Think about the ways that they helped you get motivated.  Did they come along with you in the beginning?  Were they a one person cheering section?  Did they give you the kinds of constructive criticisms and positive reinforcement that you needed to get out there and knock ‘em dead?   The odds are, since you are still here, that they did.  They understood that team motivation in MLM is the key to succeeding.

Today you have a team of your own.   Obviously you’re doing something right in order to attract these success minded individuals to your organization.  There’s something about the way that you talk and act that made them want to get onboard.  Now that they are here though, are they performing?  Do they still seem excited and charged up about your program?  If not, then you need to work on how you’re motivating them.   Many people mistakenly believe that financial rewards alone are enough to motivate someone.   The truth is that, even though people are motivated to succeed by the promise of increased income, without proper team motivation in MLM they will never have the drive to even get out there and try!

So what is the best way to approach team motivation in MLM?  In many cases, the best tactic is to continually arm your people with the things that they will need to succeed.   Stay in touch with them and let them know that you want them to succeed.  Keep in mind that they are just as much your customers as they are your team builders.   If your reps feel well prepared and supported they’ll be more confident and more successful in everything that they do.   This means that you’ll be more successful too.
